We understand that security is a big concern and therefore want you to be able to feel comfortable with purchasing through the online jewellery boutique. To ensure this, we have chosen a well known and trusted company that processes millions of payments worldwide. All online transactions are processed by our payment service provider, Paypal, an industry leader who uses the latest secure Socket Layer technology to ensure a safe and secure payment. Dawn Mckelvie does not hold or have access to your card details, this information is processed directly through Paypal. You may make a payment through the online jewellery boutique using a debit or credit card. You may also pay by cheque. Please contact us initially with the details of the item you would like to order. Once we have confirmed your order with you, please make your cheque payable to Dawn Mckelvie and send it to the address given to you. To allow for cheque payments to clear, please add an additional 5 days onto the delivery time.
How do I order an item of jewellery?
All of our leather jewellery is available to order and purchase through the online jewellery boutique. Simply click on a range to view each design. Having made your selection, you may then select the leather you would like your item to be made up in, from our range of leather swatches. Please make a note of the colour of the swatch, listed below, as this will be required to fill in when ordering. Next, visit the online jewellery boutique, click on the design you have selected and type in the colour you wish your leather jewellery to be made in. If you would like a design to be customised, or if you are trying to match a colour, please view our Bespoke Service for further details before placing an order. After you have filled in the necessary information in the colour and options boxes, you will then be able to check out via Paypal express checkout service. Your payment will be processed straight away. Upon which, you will automatically receive an email from Paypal to confirm your payment and order details. If you would like to contact us initially before placing your order, you may either email sales@dawnmckelvie.com or telephone the studio Mon-Fri between 9-7pm and Saturday 9-6pm.
How do I order an item from the fashion accessories or interior wall screens?
The range of fashion accessories and interior wall screens are bespoke items, which are exclusively tailoured to your individual requirements. If you would like to commission a design, please email us on bespoke@dawnmckelvie.com stating the item you are interested in. Every detail of a design, from size, colour and leather, can be customised, making it truly personal to you. Being as individual requirements vary, prices also vary accordingly, making it difficult to list a set price. However, once we know exactly what it is you are looking for, we will be happy to provide you with an estimate.
All Dawn Mckelvie designs are exclusively made to order. Please allow a delivery time of 7-10 working days within the UK and 14 working days outside of the UK, from the date of which your payment is processed. If you need an item of jewellery in a hurry, and really can't wait, send an email to salesinahurry@dawnmckelvie.com and we'll see what we can do! Because of the nature of the personal service that we offer, occasionally it may be necessary to order in a leather, especially for you, if we do not have your chosen colour in stock. If in the event that we are unable to obtain a leather within the time necessary to make and deliver your item, you will receive an email to notify you of this and when delivery should be expected. You may also request that the item is made up in an alternative colour of leather, if you require your item sooner.
We are able to deliver worldwide. All orders sent within the UK are via Royal Mail recorded/signed for delivery and Royal Mail International recorded/signed for, outside of the UK. Our delivery charges are as follows:

When placing your order in the online jewellery boutique, please select your country from the drop down box to ensure accurate postage charges. Initially the postage appears as estimated, however once you have selected your country, the correct postage costs will then appear under handling/line shipping. Upon dispatch, you will receive an email to notify you that your order has been sent, the day it is expected to be delivered, and a dispatch number, allowing you to track the progress of your parcel.
What will happen to my parcel if I am out when they deliver?
If you are out the day of delivery, as a signature is required, your parcel will be sent to your local delivery depot where you may collect it yourself or arrange a redelivery. You can arrange a redelivery with your local depot over the telephone, (their details of which are stated on the card they will leave) alternatively you may arrange a redelivery through Royal Mail online, using the tracking number provided to you.
We hope this does not cause an inconvenience to you. Using this method gives you the peace of mind that the item is fully insured should it fail to be delivered. If in the unlikely event your order didn't arrive within the time stated, please email us on sales@dawnmckelvie.com stating your order details and we will look into it further. If it is confirmed that a signature hasn't been received for the item, and that the parcel is not being held with Royal Mail and cannot be traced through Royal Mail, we will replace the order with an identical one. You will not be liable for any costs.
Yes! We feel that ordering something a bit special deserves to arrive in style! All Dawn Mckelvie designs will arrive in a luxury Black gift box. Inside you'll find your item beautifully wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon. Your item couldn't be made to feel more special! Finally before it begins it's journey to you, boxes are bubble wrapped to protect them, and sealed in an outer packet. What's more, all of our luxury gift boxes are made from 100% recycled card.
What is your refunds and returns policy?
If you are unhappy with your purchase, or wish to cancel the order, we are happy to offer an exchange or refund, provided you return the items to us within 7 days of receipt within the UK and 14 days of receipt outside of the UK. We require the items to be returned in the perfect condition they were dispatched, unworn, with the security tags on and in the original packaging. We are unable to offer a refund on items which are bespoke, or have been colour matched to your specified requirements. If in the unlikely event, upon inspection, an item proves to be faulty, we will replace it with an identical one. You will not be liable for the return and delivery costs. Alternatively, you may request a credit note to the value of your order.
To obtain your exchange or refund, please email sales@dawnmckelvie.com and state the order details and whether you require a return or refund. Details of where to send, and a return code, will then be issued. Please make a note of the code on the receipt sent out with the order when returning it. We require all items to be returned using the same delivery method of recorded/signed for, as this is trackable. Unfortunately we are unable to refund the delivery or return postage costs. We cannot take responsibility for any items lost which have not been sent via this service. Using this procedure, a full refund will be issued through the same way in which you placed the order. Refunds will be issued within 7 days.
One thing we do not do is mass produce! It seems the market of jewellery and fashion accessories is flooded with items mass produced both on the high street and on a designer level. Marketed as 'exclusive designer' and yet the majority are mass produced in factories abroad. This we feel doesn't seem particularly special or unique. In order to maintain exclusivity, the leather jewellery range is available to order direct from the online jewellery boutique, together with a few selected jewellery boutiques, it certainly won't be available in every other boutique! Every design is personally checked by Dawn Mckelvie, before being beautifully gift wrapped and sent on it's journey to you. The fashion accessories and interior wall screens are available exclusively to order from Dawn Mckelvie.
Can I have a design customised or have an item made up in a different colour?
Yes! When viewing an item in the online jewellery boutique, in the description box it will state the available colours the item can be made up in. In most cases the designs are available to order in any of the leathers shown, in our leather swatch page. If you would like to customise an item of leather jewellery further, or choose the individual colours of other materials within the design, you may wish to select our Bespoke Service. As part of this service, we are also able to offer a colour match option, where we will make a design up in a leather that has been matched to a colour of your choice. Before ordering, please contact us via email or telephone to discuss your requirements.
How should I care for my leather jewellery?
To keep your leather jewellery looking great, having that gorgeous leather smell and of course feeling good, here are a few tips. Avoid getting the leather wet, if it should accidentally get wet, let it dry naturally. Avoid extreme heat or humidity that can damage the skins natural oils. To keep the leather clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. Specialist leather cleaning creams may also be used, should your leather jewellery become marked. Our Italian leathers are of an excellent quality and very durable. However, if you should happen to catch the leather on a sharp object, causing it to scratch, there is a remedy! Using your fingers, simply rub in a little Vaseline to the area, being careful not to let it contact the suede (under) side. Then, gently rub with a clean dry cloth, and the scratch should have completely disappeared! Avoid storing yourl leather jewellery in polythene/plastic bags, as the leather needs to breath. We recommend storing your jewellery away from sunlight, in the gift box it arrived in. Do not spray hairspray or perfume while wearing your leather jewellery, and avoid contact with any household chemicals.
Following the above will also help to keep the Sterling Silver and metal elements of your leather jewellery looking good too. If Sterling Silver is left open to the air for a long period of time, it will begin to tarnish. Wearing regularly will help to prevent tarnishing, as will cleaning gently using a silver cloth. A cotton wool bud dipped in warm soapy water may also be used, to remove any tarnishing, taking care not to get the leather wet. To keep the metal parts of your leather jewellery bright and shiny, simply rub with a damp cloth, using warm soapy water. Please ensure you have fully dried the areas afterwards, using a soft dry cloth.
How do I know what colour would be best for me?
The colours we wear and have in our rooms, can have a significant effect on us, emotionally, physically and psychologically. Every colour has unique healing properties which can be of great benefit to us. Some colours evoke enthusiasm, excitement and increased energy levels. Others have a more calming, balancing and all round relaxing effect. There are even colours that'll help you with creativity, learning something new, or perhaps giving a presentation!

To help choose a colour with the right therapeutic effects, feel free to email Dawn an outline of what it is you are looking for. Maybe your energy levels are low and you want a colour that will help you feel full of energy on a Monday morning! Perhaps it's those stress levels that are soaring and you find it hard to unwind. Or maybe you're in need of a bit of TLC and would love to feel uplifted and generally a whole lot happier!
Another way of selecting a colour is to click on our leather swatches page, have a look at the colours and see which one you are naturally drawn to. Often the colour which attracts us the most, is the colour we are in need of! Alternatively, if you have a favourite shade of colour, that is not shown there, you may want to select our colour match option.
